Integrating Orbit Technologies for Commercial Satellite Communications

The planned acquisition of Israel-based Orbit Technologies for $356.3 million in cash is a direct move into expanding satellite communication capabilities. Orbit Technologies, which did about C$100 million in revenue in 2024, specializes in satellite-based communication systems for mobile and unmanned platforms. Post-close, expected by the end of March 2026, Orbit will join the Kratos Microwave Electronics Division (KMED). This combination of Kratos' microwave technology and Orbit's communications technology is intended to create new offerings for the market, and the deal is expected to be immediately accretive across most financial metrics.

Developing Commercial-Grade, Low-Cost UAS

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc.'s Unmanned Systems (KUS) segment is already a significant revenue contributor, bringing in $73.2 million in the second quarter of 2025. The segment's flagship product, the Valkyrie drone, reached a Program of Record milestone with the U.S. DoD in 2025. The expertise here, particularly in producing high-performance drones, provides a clear pathway to develop commercial-grade, lower-cost versions. For instance, the company is reportedly converting existing trucks to autonomy, with potential to be a significant driver in 2025.

Leveraging Turbine Technology for Small Jet Engines

The Turbine Technologies Division is already recognized for its work, showing notable revenue improvement in the second quarter of 2025. This division leverages expertise from military engine programs to pursue commercial turbofan engine programs. While specific commercial revenue from this area isn't broken out, the segment's inclusion in the overall KGS growth story-where organic revenue grew 27.1% in Q2 2025-shows the underlying capability is active and recognized by customers.

Establishing Commercial Cyber-Security Services

The Kratos Government Solutions (KGS) segment is the core of the company, generating $278.3 million in revenue in Q2 2025, representing 79.17% of the total. Within KGS, the Space, Training and Cyber businesses showed strong organic revenue growth of 21.2% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the third quarter of 2024. This existing, high-growth cyber expertise within the government sector provides the foundation to establish a new business unit focused on commercial cyber-security services. The C5ISR business, also within KGS, saw organic revenue growth of 25.4% in Q2 2025.
